Well, you bought all those smoke alarms, and we haven’t had a single fire

I was sort of successful at being ambitious today.  My plan was to wake up around 5ish and go run my 7 miles BEFORE it got to be 95 degrees outside.  I managed to get up and dressed and left my house and drove to work to go running.  I was so early…I watched the sun rise as I ran.  Well…I couldn’t technically SEE the sunrise due to all the buildings in the way…but I watched the sky turn pink and orange and get lighter.  It was pretty.  However, I only ran about 5 miles before I just got SO BORED I had to stop.  Also…I was starving.

How do people wake up and go running first thing?  Around mile 2-3 I was hungry…but by mile 5 I wanted to gnaw off my arm.  Before leaving the apartment I ate a granola bar and drank a bottle of water…but apparently that wasn’t enough.  So…I need to figure something out.  Especially since the race starts at like 6:30 in the morning…and I will be having a similar problem.  Except…then I’ll have to run 13.1 miles and won’t be able to stop at 5.

Also…this is the first time I’ve been BORED while running.  I mean, I’ve been hot, I’ve been tired, I’ve been miserable before…but never bored.  So…not really sure what that’s all about.  I think I’m at the point where I need someone to go running with to talk to etc.  B/c running alone for an hour gets super boring…even WITH music

The one AMAZING thing about running by 6AM is that its not yet super hot.  In fact…for the first 5-10 minutes…it was almost chilly out!  So…my new plan.  Every day I have to run…I will be forcing myself to wake up early and go running in the morning.  Then just drive to work and shower and get dressed there.  It worked well today.  This way I force myself to get used to running in the morning…AND…I’m not dying of heat exhaustion.  (Yes…I WOULD like to shoot myself when I have to wake up at 5/5:30 every other morning…but that’s OK…it will just prepare me for the day of the race).

Ok…so bored with talking about running.  I need some new fun stories…however, I’ve got NONE!
