Ahhh … sweet pity. Where would my love life be without it?
It was wonderful to see my family again this weekend. It was even better than expected. I got teased by everyone, ate some awesome food, and we just laughed and had a great time. I even got all my birthday gifts already (my birthday isn’t until September…but it’s always fun to get the gifts in July).
When my dad dropped me off at the train station, he warned me not to pick up any strange men as I often do. Yeah, thanks for jinxing me dad! The first train ride was completely sold out. I managed to find a seat next to a sweet old lady that pretty much ignored me the whole time. Can’t get much better than that. Unfortunately, she got off at the next stop, and then scary guy sat next to me.
I’m pretty sure this guy hadn’t showered in a week. He was sweating profusely and kept rubbing up against me. And oh my GOD the SMELL! He kept making excuses to touch me, and I was so creeped out. He kept asking for my number and said I was a beautiful young girl, but something bad would happen to me unless I had him to take care of me. Seriously, CREEPY. I finally went and sat in the dining car until they kicked me out right before the last stop. Then, I went back and grabbed my suitcase and stood at the door and RAN off the train into the station.
Then, the second train ride was ridiculously slow. It usually takes about 2 hours to get back home from there…but yesterday it took over 4 hours! I think I could have run faster at times. When I finally got home, my ass was numb, I felt like shit, and I was so stiff. All I wanted to do was run.
I planned on running two miles before it got dark and then I’d go and pick up Oscar. It felt so good to be out there that I ended up running 3 1/2 miles at a really fast time (fast for me at least) and I just felt so much better when I finished. I ran the first mile in 8:45, the second in 9:12, the third in 8:57, and then I was so hungry for dinner my body was DONE. It took me 6 minutes to run that last half mile. My bad.
Today is a rest day on the schedule, but I figured I would run again today and take tomorrow as a rest day. However, when I woke up this morning, it was storming AGAIN, so I just snuggled up with Oscar and just went back to sleep. I’ll just run tomorrow instead.
All in all it was a wonderful weekend. I got to see all my family again, met a great guy on the train (gag), had a great run on Sunday, and even got to sleep in today. What more could I ask for?
