I discussed this with our lawyers and they consider it murder.
This was a crazy long weekend and I’m so excited it’s over. I kind of need a weekend to recover from the weekend. Also…because I’m not in the mood to write coherent paragraphs…it’s all in BULLET POINTS! YAY!!!
- Friday consisted of going to work, leaving a little early and driving up to Pittsburgh. I was so worried I was going to hit traffic in D.C. Yeah…that didn’t happen. I sailed through DC with NO problems. However, when I got to 270W and 70W…the roads were backed up for EIGHTY MILES!!!! The supposed 5 1/2 hour trip took closer to 10. Then, I finally arrived in Pittsburgh and spent 20 minutes driving in circles downtown b/c I am a moron and couldn’t find the hotel. However, the bar had a very yummy beer that I will never be able to drink again b/c I don’t have a clue what it was called. But seriously…it was yummy.
- Driving to Pittsburgh reminded me of our trips to Ohio that we used to make every summer. I even remember the one rest area along the way where I lost my favorite sunglasses. I was 7ish and I had brought them inside when we stopped to go to the bathroom…but like the idiot I am…I put them down on the sink and forgot to pick them back up on my way out. So…the whole week at my grandma’s I hoped we could just stop at the same service station on the way back and pick up my glasses. I was apparently very naive and thought they would still be there and also didn’t realize that the service station was only on the other side of the road. Now, everytime I pass that Sbarro…I think of my lost sunglasses (and how stupid I was).
- As I mentioned before, I attempted to go running at the gym and wanted to slit my wrists after 3 minutes, so I just went running outside instead and it’s definitely an interesting town.
- Saturday we went to get breakfast and have come to the decision that nobody in Pittsburgh eats breakfast. We walked around downtown and couldn’t find ANY places that served breakfast and were actually open. We finally found a food court that had an Au Bon Pain in it and just got some bagels. I wish I hadn’t even bothered to eat then because we went to lunch about an hour or two later with my sister and the food there was delicious. Unfortunately, I was still almost full from the nasty bagels that I could barely eat any of it. I was sad.
- Going to the wedding was also a fun journey. I drove with L and D and we got lost (again) going to the service. I would like to say that not only did the directions suck…but the streets themselves are NOT marked half the time. So we drove in a couple of circles…but found our way eventually. Best part of all…listening to D curse quite explicitly. I don’t know that I’ve ever heard him curse before, but apparently he’s QUITE good at it.
- The service was very nice and T looked very handsome. Although I still always think of him as the kid that only would wear cowboy boots and I played ninja turtles with. It’s hard to picture him grown up enough to be married now.
- The reception was another fiasco. Getting there sucked (as again…no names on the streets!). Then, they had one little shuttle bus (that holds about 20 people) to take the 150 (or more?) people to the reception. It took over an hour and a half to get everyone there. However, they had it in the aquarium and that was awesome. I loved the penguins. I kind of want one for a pet. How hard do you think they are to keep alive?
- They also ran out of food by the time our table was allowed to go up and get some food…so I had some nasty cold and congealed eggs, a burnt waffle, and some greasy bacon. I was STARVING at that point so that wasn’t enough. But, we went up to get seconds like 10 minutes after we got our first serving and the food was GONE!!! We were so mad.
- But, other than the food, the reception was fun. I loved seeing everyone there and had a great time dancing. I got to show what a huge dork I am by singing all the lyrics to Ice, Ice Baby. I’m slightly embarassed that I still remember them.
- Driving back the next day was much better. I didn’t hit any traffic and about half way home I stopped at a park in maryland, threw on my running clothes in the car and went for a 4 mile run. It was nice. I then drove the rest of the way home, and even with my hour-ish stop it only took about 6 hours to get home. Lovely. (I swear I was going the speed limit officer).
Anyways, I had a really nice weekend, just a very tiring one. So…I’m ready for bed…and it’s only 5:30.
