Hear Me Roar…The Network for Women

The running shoe store guy is a genius and my new hero.  I bought a pair of shoes about 6 months ago that seemed comfortable in the store, but were ridiculously uncomfortable while running more than a mile.  Stupid shoes.

I have wide feet at the base of my toes, but the rest of my foot is relatively narrow.  Stupid feet.  But the shoe was too narrow at the the top of my foot.  So he recommended that I relace my shoes skipping the first set of holes, and now they’re wider and A LOT more comfortable.  So I was able to run 3 miles with no problems today.

Now I have a pair of back up sneakers again which is nice.  I don’t like not having an extra pair of shoes.  So yay to being able to wear the old new shoes!

I also managed to run and lift today at the gym.  So yay good workout.  But now my body is crazy sore.  :-)

Anyways, have a great day!

We got a tip from a five-year-old that there’s a dead Martian down there.

I’m so full I kind of want to barf.  It’s not a pleasant feeling.  Stupid J talking about Q’doba today making me want some.

Anyhoo.

Yesterday’s 6 mile run went well.  Even if I did run the whole thing on the treadmill (ugh).  That was 65.5 minutes on a treadmill.  Talk about mind numbingly DULL.  However, at least I can run faster on a treadmill (yay 11 min. mile!).

And now I feel pathetic for yaying an 11 minute mile.

I also feel pathetic because I have nothing to talk about.  Literally.

So have a good night.  I’m going to be lame and go to sleep now.  Yay 7:45 bedtime!

Looks like I need some fuel for me mule, gas for me ass!

So far so good with the whole working out thing this week.  However, not so good with the not eating everything in sight.  Seriously.  I’ve been RAVENOUS this week.  Actually, I’ve been ravenous the past two weeks so it’s starting to really drive me nuts.  As is the bigger belly I’m getting.

Also annoying, weighing LESS than I did two weeks ago…but my pants somehow fitting TIGHTER for some unknown reason.  Stupid body.

But at least my Sunday night run was fun.  I went to the bigger park that’s further away but has a 4 mile out  and back trail (8 total miles) and decided to bump up the scheduled 6 miles to an 8 mile run for fun.  However, the park closes at 8ish (there’s not a set time…just whenever they feel its dark or they want to go home) and at 7:15 I was only just getting to the 3 mile marker.  I wasn’t convinced I could make it the full 8 miles before the park closed, and the trail was getting darker and there was NOBODY else on the trail and I was getting a little freaked out imagining would be rapists/killers/etc on the path.  (See what happens when you grow up in NJ and are used to the parks up there?)  So I turned around and stuck with the scheduled 6 miles instead.

However, it was surprisingly not awful.  I went in the evening hoping it would cool down, but even with it being about 90 degrees (OH MY GOD I MISS YOU AUTUMN!!!) I didn’t feel too terrible and this park actually has some hills so it was good for the legs.  Irritatingly I ended up rolling my ankle around mile 4 on one of the hills (kind of like how I broke my foot a few years ago) and ended up having to walk about a mile (Seriously hurt A LOT), but then I managed to actually run in the last mile (with the most hills) pretty strong.  My average pace for the whole run was probably about 12:30/mile (I swear I get slower and slower every day…I’m hoping it’s just the ridiculously hot weather), but I finished the last mile in 9:55 which was crazy fast for me (especially with hills).

I’m supposed to do a recovery run today, and the trainer likes it when I do them at the gym on the dreadmill (she likes to yell at me if I run too fast or whatever), but I’m contemplating going back to the park and reattempting that 8 mile run (see…this is why she likes me to come to the gym…she knows I’m stupid like that).

Anyways, back to work I go.  Hope everyone is having a lovely week so far!

Who’s the new meat in my seat?

ARGH!  I just wrote a ridiculously long post and it disappeared when I told it to submit.  I hate you blog.com!!!!

I will be attempting to recreate the first post but I’m sure I’ll forget a lot of it.  Sigh.

I’ve been in a semi-bad mood the past few weeks(hence the lack of posting) and seriously.  This isn’t helping.  But here is a brief overview of the major events in my life lately (they’re not so major…but whatever).  Yay bullet points!

  • I was seeing a boy.  Not super serious because of conflicting work schedules.  But we talked/texted every day etc.  Then I went to Montana.  We texted the day I arrived and he told me to have a great time, be safe, etc.  Then, never heard from him again.  He never responded to any of my calls/texts when I got back.  I saw him one day and he kind of waved and quickly moved on without saying hi.  Saw him a week later and he jumped back in and HID IN HIS TRUCK rather than have to talk or acknowledge me as I walked by.  I’m kind of upset at the whole not dating anymore (but whatever, it wasn’t serious so I’m not exactly heartbroken) but I AM upset at the whole being ignored for NO REASON THAT I CAN FIGURE OUT.  Seriously.  I hate being ignored like this.  Reminds me of the times my mom would ignore us when we were kids.  It drives me INSANE!  If you have a problem or hate me or anything…just SAY SOMETHING…ANYTHING!  Also…how old are we that you are HIDING IN YOUR TRUCK????  Argh!  Can we tell how frustrated this is making me?  Sigh.  Stupid boys.
  • I’ve been working a lot of weekends lately (in fact I’m at work now), and I’ve had to cover a few B-shift days as well.  So…I had a bunch of comp time I have to use.  I’m supposed to use it within a week of receiving it or I lose it (can’t bank it…argh).  I was taking Friday off as a comp day.  I received a call at MIDNIGHT on Thursday night from C-shift saying they weren’t going to stay over and I needed to come in.  Their reason was because they WERE TIRED!  I couldn’t not come in and leave the bay unattended, so I had to drag my ass to work on Friday morning with about 3 hours of sleep.  I was super duper pissed and I honestly NEVER want to even LOOK at this person again.  Then he had the nerve to try and tell me I needed to cover for him on Monday at 3AM.  I told him I had plans to be sleeping that night because I was going to be tired.  What pisses me off is that I’m pretty sure I’ll be a wuss and come in anyways.  ARGH.  Can’t wait for my manager to come back so I can say SOMETHING about him!  What an asswipe.
  • Revolting R has visited me the past two weekends and I had a wonderful time.  She is always so much fun and I always miss her so much more after hanging out for a weekend.  Our weekends consisted of a party, a bunch of bars and lots of beer.  Always a good combination.  Can’t wait to see her again!  (Seriously she just left TODAY and I am already trying to plan my next time to see her!)
  • I just spent ridiculous amounts of money on my car this weekend.  Sigh.  Hate cars.  I hit 60,000 miles on my car (Oh my god it’s not even 3 years old yet!!!) so I took it in for it’s preventative maintenance, and had the brakes looked at, and my state inspection done again.  The brakes were kind of spongy so I thought maybe they had air in the lines.  I was right…they did.  Now they don’t.  But seriously, spent WAY more money than I wanted to.  However, I did finally break down and buy a driver seat cover (and it’s ugly).  I’m super gross after leaving the gym or driving home after running, and I hate sitting directly on the seat (scared I’ll ruin it) and I always forget to bring a towel to sit on.  So I just bought a cheap cover.  I also bought some yummy smelling air freshener (I’m paranoid my car smells like a gym bag or something).  Now it smells like coconuts and sun screen.  I love that scent!

I feel like I had more stuff…but I forget what it was…so that’s all you get now.

Last quick recap of my workout for this week:

Sunday: run 6 miles (ugh it’s SO HOT outside today)
Monday: super shitty gym workout
Tuesday: recovery run - 4 miles
Wednesday: less shitty gym workout
Thursday: super shitty gym workout
Friday: depends on my work schedule
Saturday: rest (well…probably put to work at the house) and party!  (yay!)

Anyways, have a lovely week!

Thursday, August 6, 2009

I didn’t realize it at the time, but a little piece of my childhood had slipped away, forever.

I went to the gym today and got a new workout from the trainer and it’s probably the quickest workout she’s ever given me (only about 25 minutes…usually they take about an hour to an hour and a half).  However, it is quite possibly the HARDEST workout ever.

I did 80 push-ups, 80 squats, 20 pull-ups (um…do we see how weak my upper body is?) and another 60 or so lunges.  I hurt everywhere.

I’ve been pretty lame this week.  All I’ve done is work, run, and occasionally go to the gym.  And I have to work overtime tomorrow.  Which totally irritates me. Especially since R is coming to visit this weekend (Yay R!!!), but at least I managed to get the entire weekend off (and I have off Monday as well).

Yay 3-day weekend!

Anyways, thank goodness the weekend is almost here.  It’s been such a shitty week.  :-)

I can’t get your song out of my mind. I haven’t felt this way since “Funkytown!” Can I get a copy?

 Happy Things of the Day:

  • I was able to do 40 push-ups at the gym even after not going to the gym in 2 weeks.  Go me.
  • I completely housed a giant italian hoagie today.  It was amazingly yummy.
  • I got new running shoes and they totally rock.
  • It was J’s birthday today (Happy Birthday).

Bad Things of the Day:

  • The running store person looked at my shoes and almost cried from how beat up they were
  • I was sweating so much at the gym, my gray pants looked like I had peed them instead.
  • I found out I am a complete psycho.  Seriously.  Don’t ask.

Anyways, just want this to week to end.  Can’t wait until Friday, even if I have to work late that night.  Sigh.

Have a great week.

Sunday, August 2, 2009

While I know firsthand how fragile young talent is, I’d love to hear the particulars of how your gift was squashed.

I did something kind of stupid yesterday.  Luckily it worked out ok, but it was still pretty stupid.

As I mentioned before, I’ve been in a really bad mood this week.  Over something ridiculously stupid that I can’t change and it’s just irritating me that I’m letting it get to me.  However, that was not a good excuse to do what I did.

I was hot, grumpy and irritated and I walked into a Great Clips and had the lady cut off all my hair.

I am still kind of horrified at this.  I have lived in VA for four years and never had my hair cut down here.  I literally drive the 6 hours to my hair dresser in NJ to get a hair cut.  This should tell you how picky I am about my hair.

So the fact that I went to an unknown hairdresser, at a Great Clips no less should tell you what kind of mood I was in yesterday.  I justified my decision by figuring I was already in a horrendous mood…if my hair sucked it wouldn’t really make my mood any worse than it already was.

I walked in there with this picture of what I wanted:

(Without the appearing naked of course)

It’s not exactly what I got, but it’s close enough and it looks about a hundred times better than it did before I went in, so I’m content.  I still will go to my hairdresser in NJ when I want a haircut, but this lady was a decent enough back up for times I really need to get my hair done and can’t afford the 6 hour trip (and seriously, it looks pretty damn good for a $23 haircut (that’s with the tip).  The only thing I found kind of annoying is that she didn’t fully dry my hair so it did it’s weird little kink thing it likes to do…but I just straightened it when I got home and it looks good).

And after cutting off 6″ and thinning a ridiculous amount of my hair away, my head feels about 20lbs lighter and I’m feeling a little better.  So yay new haircut!

Anyways, working this weekend has sucked.  Seriously, today has been one issue after another going wrong.  Our budget was 6.6 million…as of now I’m on pace to make 2.3 Million.  EPIC FAIL!  Go me.

But hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and enjoy the upcoming week!

Yay R coming to visit this Friday!
